Pressing a button unlocks the last fire door which leads to Silo D, the main area of Blast Pit. He instructs Gordon to cross the silo complex and take the rail system to the Lambda Complex. This forces the player back down below into the central ventilation access shaft where a duct leads to the locked security booth seen at the beginning of the chapter.Ī scientist hiding in the room tells Gordon that the Lambda science team at the opposite side of the base is the only one capable of ending the Resonance Cascade. An Osprey helicopter continually drops off Marine reinforcements while Mortar fire bombs the area. The surface is reached, but the area is under heavy military control. There are many Laser Trip Mines and Sentry Guns set up by the Marines along the way, and sections are divided by emergency fire containment doors. The player must fight through a series of Cold War era storage rooms to reach the surface. Here, they first encounter Marines sent in to cover up the incident by eliminating the science team.
